Learn the basic steps, cues, formations, music theory and zil patterns.
ATS - American Tribal Style level 2: Tribal Combinations.
Build on all of the techniques learned in level one with more complex
steps, introduction to partnering and chorus.

Choreography
Basic Bellies - Tribal/World Fusion Belly Dance:
Learn the ancient art of belly dance while toning your muscles, gaining
flexibility and relieving stress. This class will focus on correct
dance posture, stretching, strengthening, isolations, foundation steps,
traveling steps, graceful arms, shimmies, step combinations, intro to
world fusion and tribal fusion choreographies and costuming. World
fusion bellydance has its foundation in classic Egyptian bellydance
then adds steps and inspirations from countries all across the Middle
and Far East including Turkey, India, North Africa and Spain. No
previous dance experience necessary.
Beyond Basics - Tribal/World Fusion Belly Dance: This class
will focus on refining all level 1 foundation moves, add level 2 moves,
layering, stretching, and strengthening. Also included are step drills
and more complex tribal/world fusion combos and choreographies.
Tribal/gypsy skirt techniques and props are introduced at this level.
*Note, this class is 1 1/2 hours.*
Prerequisite: good working knowledge of all material in
tribal/world fusion belly dance level 1.
Czigany Performing Company - Tribal/World Fusion Style Belly Dance: This class
adds to the material learned in levels 1 and 2 and focuses on more
complex layering techniques, new steps and step combinations and
tribal/world fusion choroegraphies with the use of props including
gypsy skirts, veils, baskets, swords, candles, trays, fans, spoons, and
zills. *Note, this class is 2 hours*
Prerequisite: good working knowledge of all material in levels 1
and 2.
Basic Bellies, Egyptian Cabaret with Nashita: In this basic
beginner's dance technique class, students will learn all the
foundations of this ethnic dance form and get some great exercise! This
class will cover the basics of hip, rib cage, and arm isolations, as
well as simple turns, traveling steps, veil work, combinations, small
amounts of choreography, and finger cymbals (zills). This is a great
class for students just starting out in the art of belly dance and for
those students who are new to the Egyptian style of belly dance.
Intermediate/Advanced Technique for Choreography, Egyptian
Cabaret with Nashita: This class is open to students who've
mastered the basic belly dance movements introduced in the Basic
Bellies Class (typically after 8-12 months of The Fundamentals,
comfortable with ALL the basic moves). This choreography class is
geared for those long-time beginners who feel they learn more through
choreography, drills & routine. Every move you know has 100
variations, add-ons and layers... and we will explore them, layer them,
and use props with them! The choreographies learned in this class can
and will be used in upcoming showcases and performance opportunities.
"Habibi's Raq Oriental Dance Troupe" invitations may be available to
students taking this class.
Little Gypsies, Dance for girls ages 5- 10: Girls learn to do
gypsy dances in this fun movement class using both contemporary and
ethnic-flavored music. An exciting part of every class includes dancing
with skirts, fans, canes, tambourines, finger cymbals, baskets and
veils. Class attire: a long skirt with leggings or pants underneath,
ballet shoes or barefoot.
Shimmy-Fit with Krisztina: "A Modern Interpretation of an
Ancient Tradition" Shimmy-Fit classes are a perfect blend of aerobic
fitness, stretching, toning and stress-relief.
Every class starts with a through warm-up with core exercise class
adapted from ballet to improve strength, flexibility, balance and
muscle control.; then moves into a high energy, low impact, aerobic
section using belly dance moves for cardio, strength, endurance and
coordination; followed by a relaxing cool-down; a core strengthening
section; and ending with a stress-relieving meditation.
Krisztina is certified in Group Fitness as well as Holistic Fitness and
draws on her vast dance background in ballet and several styles of
belly dance in developing this ground-breaking fitness class that will
leave you feeling energized, refreshed, grounded and ready to take on
the world.
Teen Belly Dance with Alyssa: Build self-confidence, improve
your posture and have a lot of fun while you learn belly dance to
modern Middle Eastern music. You will learn proper dance posture,
stretching and strengthening exercises and how to isolate different
muscle groups to perform various belly dance movements. No previous
dance experience necessary. For girls ages 11 and up. Class attire:
tank top or leotard, yoga or exercise pants, barefoot or ballet shoes.
Pilates with Christine: Tone your core,
lengthen and strengthen your muscles. A short flowing yoga warm up at
the start of class and a yoga cool down at the end of class to send you
on your way. The rest of the class will be a flow between mat pilates
and yoga. Toning your core, shoulders, and legs to support your back,
knees, and improve your posture. Please bring a yoga mat to class, if
you have issues with your tailbone please bring 2 mats to stack. There
are a few mats for purchase in the studio.
Yoga with Jean: Using slow, gentle movements you will improve
flexibility while strengthening your body and relieving stress. This
class is for those in all fitness levels.
Explore the fundamentals of yoga. Learn how to breathe and move deeply
from within. Practice light movements with consciousness to build
strength, balance, flexibility and inner peace.
Learn stress-relieving techniques that will provide a deepened sense of
well-being. Practice stretching to tone and strengthen the body. Use
gentle, slow movements and focus on the body, mind, breathing and
posture to improve circulation, flexibility and stamina. Enjoyable and
beneficial for all fitness levels.
