Class Descriptions
World Fusion Belly Dance Basic Technique:
Learn the ancient art of belly dance while toning your muscles, gaining
flexibility and relieving stress. This class will focus on correct
dance posture, stretching, strengthening, isolations, foundation steps,
traveling steps, graceful arms, shimmies, step combinations, intro to
world fusion and tribal fusion choreographies and costuming. World
fusion bellydance has its foundation in classic Egyptian bellydance
then adds steps and inspirations from countries all across the Middle
East including Turkey, India, North Africa and Spain. No previous dance
experience necessary This class is available through the L'Anse
Creuse/Mt. Clemens Community Education program. New sessions begin
about every 8 weeks.
World Fusion Belly Dance Level 1: This class will focus
on refining all basic foundation moves, add level 1 moves, layering,
stretching, and strengthening. Also included are step drills and intro
to tribal/world fusion combos and choreographies.
Prerequisite: At least one session of basic technique is recommended but
not required.
World Fusion Belly Dance Level 2: This class will focus
on refining all level 1 foundation moves, add level 2 moves, layering,
stretching, and strengthening. Also included are step drills and more
complex tribal/world fusion combos and choreographies. Tribal/gypsy skirt
techniques are introduced at this level.
Prerequisite: good working knowledge of all material in tribal level
1.
World Fusion Belly Dance Level 3: This class adds to the
material learned in levels 1 and 2 and focuses on more complex layering
techniques, new steps and step combinations and tribal/world fusion
choroegraphies with the use of props including gypsy skirts, veils and
zils. *Note* This class is 1 1/2 hours.
Prerequisite: good working knowledge of all material in beginning tribal
levels 1 and 2.
ATS – American Tribal Style level 1: Learn the basic steps, cues,
formations, music theory and zil patterns.
ATS – American Tribal Style level 2: Build on all of the techniques
learned in level one with more complex steps, introduction to partnering and
chorus.
Tribal Fusion Balancing Techniques: Props add a dramatic element to
your dancing. In this class you will learn balancing techniques for swords,
baskets and candles. Spring session focuses on Sword techniques and a Fusion
Sword choreography. Note: Must be currently enrolled in a technique class
to attend this class.
Prerequisite: good working knowledge of all material in tribal level
1.
Gypsy Dance for girls ages 5- 11: Girls learn to do gypsy dances in
this fun movement class using both contemporary and ethnic-flavored music. An
exciting part of every class includes dancing with skirts, fans, canes,
tambourines, finger cymbals, baskets and veils.
